The 5 Days Uganda Primates safari offers a complete primate trekking experience in Uganda. This thrilling primate package includes chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park and mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park. Kibale National Park offers the best chimp trekking experience and is a home to over 1500 chimpanzees plus 12 more primate species.

Bwindi National Park is where you will engage in a trek to see mountain gorillas in the wild. This park is where over 459 mountain gorillas peacefully live and has about 23 habituated gorilla groups. Bwindi National Park is comprised 4 main sectors; Buhoma, Rushaga, Nkuringo, and Ruhija. In each of these sectors, there are already habituated gorilla groups to be visited by a maximum of 8 (eight) pax. The 5 days gorillas & chimpanzee tracking tour will begin and end in Entebbe or Kampala.

Day 1: Pick up and travel to Kibale

Day 2: Explore chimpanzees in Kibale & Bigodi Swamp walk

Day 3: Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and travel to Kibale

Breakfast will be provided to you at your respective hotels in Entebbe or Kampala. After breakfast, get briefed about what to expect as per your expertly designed 5 days gorillas and chimpanzee tracking tour. Later, drive out of Kampala/Entebbe City and proceed to Kibale National Park, driving for about 5-6 hours via Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal.

Lunch will be enjoyed on arrival at Fort Portal and proceed with a scenic drive along the tarmacked Kamwenge road to Kibale National Park to check in your lodge.

Day 2: Explore chimpanzees in Kibale & Bigodi Swamp walk

Today, you will have the best of chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park and expect to enjoy the morning session. The chimp trek will begin with briefing about guidelines and allocation of park ranger guides. After briefing, you will be accompanied to search for the chimpanzee community in Kibale National Park.

Expect to spend about 2-4 hours in the jungles of Kibale and on finding the chimpanzee community, you will have an hour of observing how chimpanzees behave. You will also take as many pictures as possible then begin returning to where you started your trek. The driver guide will transfer you to the lodge for relaxation.

On returning to your lodge, you will have a leisurely lunch and at around 2:00 pm, you will be paying a visit to Bigodi wetland. In Bigodi, expect to explore diverse primates, birds, and other floral species.

Day 3: Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today’s program will include departing from Kibale National Park to Bwindi. You will drive via Kasese and en route, expect to make a stopover at the Kikorongo Equator crossing. After photography moment at the Equator crossing, proceed to the southern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park while you keep eyes on some of the wildlife. At Ishasha sector, you will have the best game drive to search for you to search for the tree climbing lions. Other wildlife to expect to encounter at the Ishasha include topis, hippos, buffaloes, and elephants.

After the Ishasha game drive, you will be driven to Bwindi National Park. At Bwindi, you will check in your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 4: Explore Bwindi mountain gorillas with a guide

Enjoy your early morning breakfast at leisure. After breakfast, you will have briefing on gorilla trekking safety measures (rules and regulations) in the park offices. You will also be assigned habituated gorilla groups to track and park ranger guides to lead on the actual gorilla trekking adventure.

Bwindi National Park is comprised 23 habituated gorilla groups that are open for gorilla trekking in the four regions; Ruhija, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Buhoma. A maximum of one hour will be availed mainly for you to explore how mountain gorillas behave and taking photos. After the mountain gorilla encounter, you will return to spend your afternoon in the lodge.

Later in the afternoon/evening, be ready to pay a visit to the Batwa pygmies’ community. This unique cultural experience takes you through a thrilling exploration about the Batwa pygmies’ traditions, cultures, and lifestyle. After your interaction with the Batwa, expect to get back to rest in your respective lodges.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe

At leisure, you will enjoy your cup of tea or coffee and after, be prepared to transfer back to Entebbe or Kampala. En route, you will have lunch around Mbarara city then photography at the Equator in Kayabwe. Next will be drop off at the hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and today brings to an end the 5 days gorillas & chimpanzee tracking tour.
