The 4 Days Uganda wildlife tour in Kidepo national park offers you a great chance to explore the hidden treasures of Kidepo Valley National Park. Kidepo National Park is remotely lying in the far Northeastern Uganda within the semi-arid Karamoja region and is the country’s 3rd biggest National Park.

The 1442 sq. km Kidepo National Park was officially established in 1962 and provides refuge to diverse wildlife and birdlife. Among the diverse wildlife to encounter in Kidepo include leopards, black-backed jackals, aardwolf, caracals, Rothschild giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, elephants, oryx, and others.
Birds to identify in Kidepo –over 475 birds survive in this park including ostriches, lesser kestrel, Taita fiscal, golden pipit, rufous chatterer, black-winged pratincole, Dusky-turtle dove, white-crested, Hartlaub’s turacos, fox’s weaver birds, and yellow and red-spotted barbet. Other bird species in Kidepo National Park include fox’s cisticola, Karamoja apalis, crimson rumped waxbill, broad-tailed warblers, Clapperton’s francolin, Kori bustard, little bee-eaters, Dark chanting goshawk, and Abyssinian ground hornbill. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Entebbe or Kampala to Kidepo
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after, you will be transferred to Kidepo Valley National Park and by road, you will spend about 10-12 hours. But there is also an option of taking the flight from Entebbe International Airport/Kajjansi Airfield to Kidepo Airfield. On arrival at Kidepo National Park, check in your respective wilderness safari lodges or camps for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: A full day game drive through Kidepo National Pak game tracks
After a delicious breakfast in the morning, you will have a long day game drive through the Narus Valley. During the guided game drive, expect to encounter diversity of wildlife including elephants, caracals, black-backed jackals, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, leopards, lions, and many bird species. The long day game drive through the Narus Valley game track include a picnic lunch and you will return to your respective lodges late in the afternoon.

Day 3: A morning game drive & visit to the Karamoja Community
Have a sumptuous breakfast early in the morning and after, you will embark on another guided game drive session. This includes exploring more of Kidepo Valley National Park wildlife. Today, you may take the Narus Valley side or Kidepo Valley game track. After the morning game drive, you will have lunch at leisure in the lodge.
Later in the afternoon, you will have a great Karamoja community tour. The cultural tour in the Karamoja Community involves exploring the unique traditions and cultures of the Karamojong people. After the close interaction with the Karamojong people in the Karamojong Manyattas, you will get back to the lodge for relaxation.

The best time to visit Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo National Park like most Uganda safari parks enjoy favorable weather conditions which it an all year round destination. However, to enjoy the best of your 4 days game viewing tour, the best time to travel to Kidepo is during the peak dry season. This is from September to March, when the park experiences long dry spell with less disruption from rains. During the dry season, the park’s game tracks are passable thus allowing visitors to enjoy their game drive peacefully unlike the wet or rainy months.
Getting to Kidepo
By road: Kidepo National Park can be reached by road and involves driving from Kampala or Entebbe via the eastern route or northern route. The eastern route takes visitors from Entebbe or Kampala via Jinja-Iganga-Mbale route while the northern route involves navigating on the Entebbe/Kampala-Luwero-Gulu highway. Generally, accessing Kidepo from Entebbe or Kampala by road can take visitors between 10 and 12 hours.
By air: There is an alternative of taking a flight and your local tour operator can arrange a charter or scheduled flight to the park’s Kidepo airfield. Visitors set off from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Airfield and is a perfect option to save you longer hours if you used road transportation.
